eSource Optics offers both Laser Quality and Analytical Quality Plano-Convex & Plano-Concave Spherical and Cylindrical Lenses are available in UV Grade Fused Silica (FS) & BK7 Glass. Plano-Convex Spherical Lenses have one flat (plano) surface and one spherical surface curved outward (convex) to converge the transmitted rays from an object, thus forming a real or virtual image of that object. A Plano-Convex Spherical Lens is used as a simple imaging lens to focus, collect and collimate light. Plano-Concave Spherical Lenses curved inward (concave) to diverge the transmitted rays from an object, thus forming a real or virtual image of that object.
Plano-Convex cylindrical Lens will focus light in only one dimension, stretching a point of light into a line. Plano-Convex cylindrical Lenses are typically used for collecting and line focusing light in many applications. Plano-Concave cylindrical Lenses have one flat (plano) surface and one cylindrical surface curved inward (concave). A Plano-Concave cylindrical Lens will diverge light in only one dimension and can be used together with Plano-Convex cylindrical lenses for beam expander applications, image reduction or to spread light into a line.
