INO had a primary role in the history of research in optics since its foundation in 1936. The team of Naples Section of the Institute includes about 15 investigators, mainly physicists with a consolidated experience in fundamental and applied research. INOA is characterized by a consistent production of international scientific publications and patents (www.ino.it/Napoli) and by a wide opening to scientific relations and collaborations with Italian and international institutions. INO is a scientific reference for several companies dealing with optics and telecommunication technologies for projects, collaborations and consultancy. In INO-Naples, there are 6 large laboratories equipped with the most advanced optical and electronic instrumentation, an electronic shop and a "clean" room. Research interests cover a wide range of disciplines including fiber optics, optical sensors, laser spectroscopy, non linear optics, photonic crystals, interferometry and digital holography.
