Electromagnetism and Telecom

FPMs is a Belgian Faculty of Engineering. The Electromagnetism and Telecommunication Department carries research activities focusing on the characterization and metrology of active and passive optical components, distributed measurement of optical fibre characteristics (CD, PMD, ...), theoretical and experimental studies on semiconductor and fibre laser dynamics, measurement of key performance characteristics of optical and electrical links (BER, CSO, CTB, NPR, ...). The department has also a FBG fabrication facility and develops FBG applications in telecommunication and in sensing.
