FiberSensing - Sistemas Avançados de Monitorização, S.A., is a world leader in the development and production of advanced monitoring systems based on optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) technology.
The main markets are the ones of structural health monitoring in Civil and Geotechnical Engineering, Aerospace, Oil & Gas and Energy Industries.
Founded in April 2004 as a spin-off from INESC Porto, the company offers the most complete portfolio of products in terms of FBG sensors, measurement units and software packages. In addition, it provides complete solutions for monitoring, such as custom development of OEM Systems and monitoring projects.
FiberSensing know-how is based on the founders' extensive experience and fundamental knowledge of the Fiber Bragg Grating technology. The company is also supported by a team of highly skilled and qualified technicians, whose competences go from fiber optic technology to optoelectronics, digital electronics and instrumentation. ~
Products & Solutions
FiberSensing activity embraces the development of standard products based on the Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) technology, such as sensors, measurement units and software for data management and user interface.
Currently, the company manufactures sensors to measure strain, temperature, acceleration and tilt, addressed to a broad range of applications (laboratory, outdoor, concrete...).
FiberSensing measurement units offer precise and high resolution quasi-static and dynamic measurements through a reliable and user-friendly interface. They are available in multiple form factors, such as portable, industrial, benchtop and rack-mountable, and as PXITM modules.

OEM Systems
The company provides custom development of OEM sensors, measurement units and turn-key monitoring solutions, designed for the specific needs of the user application. These can be based on sub-contracting or joint development. OEM systems developed and produced by FiberSensing include a Temperature Monitoring System and a Vibration Monitoring System for application in Energy production environments, and a Portable Measurement Unit for FBG sensors. Other systems are currently under development.
